According to the most recent figures of the National Administrative Department of Statistics, DANE, Colombia's imports reported US$38.5 billion in the first half of the 2022, an increase of 44,5% over the same period in 2021. This shows an important recovery of the sector after the covid pandemic and the national strike.

The Port Society of Buenaventura, located in Valle del Cauca department, is the most important seaport in the country, which receives 50% of the 17 tons of cargo per year (according to 2021 indicators).
