Palabras del jurado: “Este reportaje gráfico aborda con destreza en la mirada y la técnica narrativa la celebración de la navidad negra en Quinamayó, Valle del Cauca, un fenómeno social rico y complejo. El autor se asoma a la vistosidad del evento, con un punto de vista nuevo, lleno de intimidad, y un lenguaje visual limpio y equilibrado. La comunidad de Quinamayó es retratada con dignidad exaltando la tras escena de una tradición de casi 200 años de antigüedad”.
I won the Simon Bolivar National Journalism Award, the most important in Colombia, in the category of Graphic Reporting for 'The Black God Child was born in February' and I can only think of a list of thanks: to the resilience and warmth of the black community of Quinamayó; to colleagues, friends and editors who believed in my project; to the compas of Baudó AP for opening their doors to me; to my family for believing in me; and to the jury, for appreciating my vocation in this way.

The author looks at the colorfulness of the event, with a new point of view, full of intimacy, and a clean and balanced visual language. The community of Quinamayó is portrayed with dignity, exalting the behind-the-scenes of a tradition almost 200 years old”.
