At the other Presidential election of November, in a tiny country at the edge of the European Union, the 3,5 million citizens of the Republic of Moldova took the path of change. In 2020, Maia Sandu won against President Igor Dodon after she had lost on a very slim number of votes in 2016.

In 2016, I photographed Maia Sandu in the Republic of Moldova. This series presents a selection of unpublished images taken between 2015 to 2018, while I was travelling around this amazing country. From North to South, East to West, with a breakaway region, different languages are spoken. With an intricate history, I discovered a beautiful landscape, ancient traditions, and many welcoming people.
