An asphalt, gras and basalt blocks covered dike along the Marsdiep protects the land and the Dutch town of Den Helder behind it. The Marsdiep is a sea strait between this city and the Wadden island of Texel. It connects the North Sea and the Wadden Sea and is the westernmost inlet into the Wadden Sea. On the right rain veils fall from clouds above the water.
