Summary
Mexico City is one of the most populated in the world. In the imagination, their territory is mostly grey, noisy, crowded and suddenly hostile. he real estate development of the city is eating up the green spaces, but in the southern outskirts of the city peasant life still resists. In the southern Mayorships of Mexico City, 3,733 tons of native maize are still produced annually. Growing maize is not easy, we must defend the seed from the transgenic threat, from water problems, from urban growth.
La Ciudad de México es una de las más pobladas del mundo. En la imaginación, su territorio es mayoritariamente gris, ruidoso, abarrotado y de repente hostil. El desarrollo inmobiliario de la ciudad está devorando los espacios verdes, pero en la periferia sur de la ciudad la vida campesina aún resiste. En las alcaldías del sur de la Ciudad de México aún se producen anualmente 3 mil 733 toneladas de maíz nativo. Cultivar maíz no es fácil, hay que defender la semilla de la amenaza transgénica, de los problemas hídricos, del crecimiento urbano.
