As a student at Rochester Institute of Technology, I had access to the archive at Eastman House, now the International Museum of Photography. Early ‘exposure’ to the legendary Edward Steichen and Minor White prints left a strong impression of the importance of composition, light, shadow and texture. In recent years I have rediscovered a passion for looking at objects as studies of light, space, texture, and design – whatever the subject matter.

I got my first camera when I was 11; my enthusiasm for photography led to my first 35 mm SLR, a Nikkormat FTN, when I was 16.  High school spent at the illustrious Brooklyn Tech confirmed my love for design.  Starting at RIT on a design degree, one of my courses was with the famous Bea Nettles whose specialty was photography in mixed media. I saw that I could combine design and photography, so switched my focus to photography. I obtained a BFA in Photography as a Fine Art from RIT in 1974. I continue to pursue the beauty of black and white and photographic design, as I did in college.Â

Following graduation, I taught photography workshops in Washington DC and was a teaching assistant at the Corcoran School of the Arts and Design. I was part of the Photographic Fine Arts community and participated in a number of group shows at the Eye Street Gallery.

I was given an opportunity to be the Director of Photography on a stop motion animated film, "I Go Pogo” and followed that path into the Film and TV business. After many years and awards in the Visual Effects business where I worked on such films as Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Tron, X-Men:First class and the soon to be released Deadpool I have now returned to photography to further develop the skills I learned at RIT.Â
