Public Project
Against Naming an Airport After Berlusconi
Summary
Italian political parties and activist groups organized a protest against the recent naming of Milan's main airport, Malpensa, after late Silvio Berlusconi.
Indeed, when the renaming of the airport became public, some foreign papers promptly included "bunga bunga" in their relative headlines, which further fueled the angry reactions to the naming. Many people reminded how other Italian airports are named after notable persons such as Leonardo da Vinci and Marco Polo, and Palermo airport in Sicily has been named after Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino, two Italian judges murdered by mafia in 1992.
In the past days some Italian newspapers have also reported that Berlusconi's family wouldn't even have been informed about the naming in beforehand.
On Monday, July 15th, some Italian political parties and activist groups organized a protest in front of the administrative offices of Lombardy region, the president of which is currently a right wing politician from the same party as Mr Salvini.
