A Journey Through Second Life
With photographs of a computer screen, the viewer is guided across Second Life, a virtual space online rivalling real-world cities in size and dynamism. An ambitious computer program that has enabled millions of people to live out parallel lives amongst one another. Where the plasticity of the digital medium invites everyone to reinvent who they are with unlimited imagination. An appeal that makes people on Second Life believe they are more than just players of a video-game, but residents in a place of sincere human flourishing. A flourishing the photographs puts in question by showcasing what is lost in translation when digitising the human experience. Spiralling the viewer across an uncanny landscape - led by an unreliable narrator, featuring subjects of ambiguous agency, with a documentary format that betrays its own credibility.
