Summary
With the support of the Pulitzer Center, I spent one year documenting Thailand's worst human-elephant conflict focusing on the communities and forest rangers on the frontline in protecting their livelihoods against an increasing number of wild elephants whose original forest is unable to sustain them anymore.
After months of planning, editing, and designing I am happy to share details of my upcoming exhibition at Bangkok Art and Culture Centre in Bangkok, Thailand, from August 22 to September 3rd, 2023.
With the support of the Pulitzer Center, I spent one year documenting Thailand's worst human-elephant conflict focusing on the communities and forest rangers on the frontline in protecting their livelihoods against an increasing number of wild elephants whose original forest is unable to sustain them anymore. Over the past decade, many people and elephants have died in a location that is only 2 hours east of Bangkok. With little solution insight and a birth rate of over 8% per annum, will people and elephants be able to live together?
The exhibition is called A Fragile Coexistence - Humans and Elephants in Eastern Thailand and you can find details on the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre website.
Additionally, we have arranged a special forum on August 25th where there will be a discussion by officials from the Department of National Parks, experts on the issue, and representatives from the communities to talk about the problem and what possible solutions there could be.
