Bethel, AK Climate Change
The Yukon-Kuskokwim region is experiencing effects from climate change on almost a daily basis. Thawing permafrost is disrupting roadways and infrastructure, causing costly fixes and adaptions. When frozen over, the Kuskokwim River becomes a highly-utilized transport, hunting, and travel route for smaller villages near Bethel. But that freeze is being more and more delayed.
With limited budget availability for addressing climate change concerns, can Bethel afford the cost of climate change? We hear from Bethel residents.
