"I Love LA" Exhibition - Lenscratch

Looking back through the work I made over the years there, so much of it feels like a love letter to LA: its people, unique places, quirky moments, and extraordinary light. But in the end it was easy to select this image, a quick snapshot from my phone, which was made in my first weeks living there when I was still getting a feel for the city. One David, clothed in a rainbow speedo, standing out in a crowd of Davids, stashed behind one of the major studios in Hollywood. It now feels to me like an echo, or a premonition, of images I've seen from a number of colleagues, showing one of the homes that burned but still had a David replica standing, almost identical to this one.
