STEFANO BOSCHI MUSEUM HOUSE - MONICA SILVA "Evocation to the Silence" work in the permanent collection of the project 'SUBSTITUTIONS' edited by Maria Fratelli.
Stefano Boschi Museum House held on December 13th at 4:30pm, a close encounter with the artists involved in the 'Substitutions' project.
'La Scuola Dei Gladiatori"', the work assigned to the artist Monica Silva, is part of the -on going project- entitled 'Substitutions' created by Maria Fratelli, art historian and director of the Casa Museo Stefano Boschi, who has selected various artists to remake a selection of paintings from the Stefano Boschi Foundation's historic art collection, which boasts an archive of well over 1800 works by the greatest Italian masterpieces of the 20th century, including artists like Modigliani, Sironi, De Chirico, Picasso , Manzoni, De Pisis, Fontana just to name a few.
Monica Silva has created a very personal re-reading of "La Scuola Dei Gladiatori" by Giorgio De Chirico naming it 'Evocation to the Silence'. The work, in large format (2m x 1.5m), as the original painting, depicts a table, where the artist places her personal objects that evoke different works by the father of metaphysics. A silent dialogue between two artists from different eras with a common aim: Communicating one's own state of mind in an enigmatic but yet in a simple and evocative way.
The image is now part of the permanent collection of the Stefano Boschi House Museum and is currently exhibited in the De Chirico room, replacing the picture 'The school of the Gladiators' now in a major exhibition at the Palazzo Reale in Milan.
The ambitious project 'SUBSTITUTIONS' launches a new challenge, the acquisition of new works that goes alongside the current historical archive of the Stefano Boschi House Museum, opening a window on contemporary art while maintaining the Boschi family's philosophy, and that is, to give artists the opportunity to express their artistic vision and share them with those who love art.
