Basta un'ora di auto da Sofia per raggiungere la stazione sciistica di Borovets, la più antica del Paese e un tempo sede di villeggiatura degli Zar. Infine, passando da Plovdiv (capitale europea della cultura 2019), si raggiungono i Monti Rodopi e il resort di Pamporovo. Sulla strada monasteri (come quello patrimonio Unesco di Rila o quello di Bachovo), fortezze, antichi villaggi e stazioni termali.

It takes just an hour's drive from Sofia to reach the Borovets ski resort, the oldest in the country and once the holiday home of the Tsars. From here to the Pirin Mountains, at whose feet stands Bansko, the Bulgarian ski capital and annual stage of the World Cup. Finally, passing through Plovdiv (European capital of culture 2019), you reach the Rhodope Mountains and the resort of Pamporovo. On the road monasteries (such as the Unesco heritage of Rila), fortresses, ancient villages and spas.
Visited by Greeks, Serbs, Turks, Romanians and English (attracted by low cost solutions), the Bulgarian slopes welcome around 1.5 million visitors every year and prepare investments to further improve their offer.
