‘Amaru, canto y vida’ is a musical group formed in the Kichwa Karanki community of San Clemente, province of Imbabura, Ecuador. They distinguish themselves by combining their own Sanjuanito rhythm with modern instruments such as the electric guitar and drums. They have been training for more than six years and through music they seek to preserve their cultural identity and language.

The photos and a short promotional video were taken by assignment for the group, both in their rehearsals and in two presentations they made at the Teatro Mexico in the city of Quito.
