Armenian Media Training 2024 Completed!

Its been another busy week of non-stop work with our last batch of Armenian trainees; yet another successful crash media workshop focusing on print journalism and multimedia stories. However, having a great story is not enough unless you know how to offer it to newspapers and other media platforms. Needless to say, we also work hard on the “pitch” question...

We´re convinced that training people living on ground zero on the basics of storytelling will encourage them to tell their story, that of a region they know well to an international audience and, eventually, get paid for it. Moreover, it will also contribute to greater hygiene in journalism as a whole.

During our fourth workshop in Goris (southern Armenia), we were fortunate to have Victor Sajenko with us. The Ukraine-based reporter from Latvia went through the secrets of video journalism and shared both his knowledge and his experience with our students. Alongside our seasoned trainers Andoni Lubaki and Karlos Zurutuza, Victor has proved to be a great asset to our growing training team, something which will allow us to provide simultaneous media training workshops in different locations such as the Iraqi Kurdistan Region or the Western Sahara refugee camps in Algeria.

As in previous editions, we relied on the funding and backing of the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU) and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. It would have been impossible to make things happen without their support.

All this takes place at a moment when we have reached the 200 published stories milestone by our Armenian trainees from our previous three courses. And what´s even better, the last batch of students looks as promising as ever!
