The operators of food pantry these days tell the same story. Aid organizations that used to help several hundred needy families a week are seeing thousands of families now. And the numbers are growing every week.
Scores of volunteers are needed break down deliveries into individual packages. They are overwhelmingly young because retired people who did this kind of work are being urged to stay home.  
On any given Saturday morning, this is what the food pantries looks like in different parts of Queens.
