The Faces of LA - A City Under Siege- In Solidarity
Summary
The faces of Los Angeles are the future. On a hot June afternoon, LA came out to declare its strength and solidarity and flatly said, No Kings. With loud, feisty voices and creative messaging of every kind, Los Angeles epitomized the essence of a city united against hate and persecution. All who have witnessed the vulgar display of tearing apart the lives of our rooted communities for political theater sent a clear message: Angelenos will link arms and peaceably stand up for every man, woman, and child who cannot protect themselves.
Many yesterday were too frightened to join the countless protests in Southern California on NO Kings Day. And many came out for those families who have been rounded up and taken away. Many came out for those who were too scared to leave their homes. The mood on the streets yesterday was mixed with profound sadness and anger, and at the same time filled with support, friendship, music, dancing, and a fiery resolve that each one of us demands that peace return to Los Angeles.
This collection of photographs carries us along on a day when everyone felt each other's passion and resilience.
Phil Ochs may have said it best:
The final story, the final chapter of Western man, I believe, lies in Los Angeles.
