Tips for Attending Portfolio Reviews (my thoughts after Phololucida)

What is a portfolio review?
A portfolio review is like photographer-reviewer speed dating. You request certain reviewers. A lottery system matches you, and you are guaranteed a certain number of reviews a day. Timing is strictly enforced. Photographers have about 20 minutes to introduce yourself, show your work, have a conversation, and listen to feedback. It is always interesting, but it can also be exhausting. Photolucida in Portland, Oregon, is one of the big ones.

(Keep in mind that Photolucida is not a review for commercial photographers, those protocols would be somewhat different.)
