The magic of this places is that you can feel the essence of the people who once lived there. In this one the vibe felt light. When you enter this places you dont know what to expect. I was worry that somebody were inside the house. Not in this one. Rincon, PR.
When i took this picture, dejavu. When I started this proyect, it first started to document this abandoned places but then it turned into a experiece of feeling the energies left in those places. Everysingle place had its own energy. An energy left from the people who once lived there. This house in Rincon had a nice feeling.
Other places still surviving the big swells like this restaurant, which is a few meters next to these abandoned houses of La Boca area in the coastline of BArceloneta, Puerto RIco.
From all the houses visited this was the only one were the owner is trying to restore it. This is his chill out spot. He is a surfer and he thinks theres no way the ocean is going to destroy more than what s already done. who knows!! Arecibo
El boricua se las inventa. Aqui una construccion de una barrera de contencion. Aparte del agua y la arena, el mar puede traer palos, basura y cualquier cosa que la corriente pueda arrastrar. La Boca, Barceloneta, Puerto RIco.
An abandoned building next to Chatarra beach at Loiza Puerto Rico. This place was the most spoky and dangerous i went thru. I guess this was a church. The roof was collapsing since is still being destroyed by salt water.
SOme people sarted to rebuid but then given up by the fact that these catastrophes will keep on going as the sea keeps on rising on this global warming cycle.
Buildings on tourist area, Ocean Park are also affected. This community is just in the shore as many others but this is a wealthy area. Well nature dont discriminate in regards to this issue.
A man rebuilding his house, while theres a big swell in the background. This is one of the biggest swells we have had this year. Nothing compared to the king of the swells the one in march 2018, after hurracaine Maria and Irma. This swell may have cause more destruction on the coast that these two hurracaines. I remember it was a swell of 18 feet at 18 sec/period. And that is like a tsunami.
Behind the scenes, a dream wave. After a wave like this a lot of water keep on hitting the shore just like a tsunami wave. This types of swells are more common in the last two years. The weather is different. The color of the sky is more warm. HEre dealig with a nikon which tends to be more cold(blue) Puerto Rico is sou hot you need a canon. and a wide angle sorry next time ill get one.
Throw back about two months after maria. This is everything but the house. Salinas Puerto RIco. 2019.

Abandonded places in Puerto RIco due to climate change and bad planification of the use of the land. For more info Google plan 2020, ley cofina and 22 Law. We are being extremely deforested and people are being gentrified.... and the land is for sale. Even the natural reserves, beaches, even the places are no longer save to human life. This is an SOS for the land of the Cordero, Puerto Rico and for the puertoricans that live in the island.
