The project combines research, dialogues, and the fusion of layered portraits/videos/sculptures and written narratives to craft installations that delve into the profound impact of these horrifying events on survivors' mental health and well-being.The project advocates for increased and long-term access to psychosocial support for the survivors which in turn will improve their mental health and well-being.

It's All In My Head is an ongoing research-based multimedia project that explores the coping mechanisms of survivors of terrorism and extreme instances of conflict and cruelty in Nigeria.
The project combines research, dialogues, and the fusion of layered portraits/videos/sculptures and written narratives to craft installations that delve into the profound impact of these horrifying events on survivors' mental health and well-being.
This lifelong project advocates for increased and long-term access to psychosocial support for the survivors, with a strong emphasis on its pivotal role in enhancing the mental well-being of survivors.

This chapter of It's All In My Head which was fully funded by the National Geographic Society, is dedicated to shining a light on the often-overlooked issue of witchcraft accusations and their profound impact on the mental health of survivors in Nigeria. Using Cross-River and Akwa-Ibom state as a case study,  i believe that shedding light on these critical issues, society can gain a deeper understanding of the struggles faced by survivors and, collectively, work toward meaningful solutions.

This chapter of the project was made possible by a collaboration between Etinosa Yvonne and Basic Rights Counsel Initiative (BRCI). The exhibition was curated by Wura-Natasha Ogunji.

Highlights of the Exhibition:
  • Immersive installations featuring Images, Sculptures, Videos as well as audio recordings of the survivors.
  • Engaging public town hall meeting, with survivors, community leaders, religious leaders, and government representatives facilitating the exchange of information and innovative ideas to address these challenges.
  • To pay tribute to the lives tragically lost as a result of witchcraft accusations, and to acknowledge the profound impact of these deaths and accusations on families and friends.
  • Two engaging theatrical productions in select markets in three local government areas in Cross-River and Akwa-Ibom state. These immersive plays delves into a gripping narrative from the perspective of survivors, shedding light on the profound issues and far-reaching impact that false accusations have on their lives.
  • An exclusive round-table discussion featuring survivors and affected families which provided a platform for sharing personal experiences. This gathering served as a therapeutic session, fostering connections among participants and offering reassurance through the understanding that they are not alone in their journeys. Two professional psychotherapists were in attendance.
