This well in a cow pasture in Brazeau County has been suspended since 2006. The Alberta Energy Regulator says that wells that are suspended for more than 10 yeas are turned back on less than .2% of the time. Complete cleanup is expensive but leaving wells in suspension is relatively cheap. So wells sit in fields, sometimes for decades and sometimes leaking methane into the air.
