A couple of years ago I covered a fashion show, taking photos only while right by the runway exit, where the light was so beautiful. This year, when I had the opportunity to get backstage access, I decided to create an entire series with that lighting. However, the production team would not allow me by the exit, only the entrance. I was a bit disappointed but understood I’d have to make do.

I noticed there was this stunning edge lighting being created by the stage lighting, seeping into the models’ holding area. I decided to expose for that light, which created this dramatic look. I studied it on the faces of the models the entire show. While doing so, I found myself also documenting a very intimate, quiet and powerful moment, right before the models hit the stage.
