On February 8th, 2020, Seargent Major Jakrapanth Thomma, 32, went on a shooting spree in Korat, Thailand, that left 29 people dead and many more wounded. He made his way to Terminal 21 Mall where he remained, with hostages, until the morning of February 9th when he was shot dead by Thai commandos. Mass shootings are extremely rare in Thailand and the extent of the Korat shooting left the nation in shock. Buddhist temples were packed with people attending one funeral after another in the days following the attack, and the horrible imprint left by the actions of one man in less than twenty-four hours will affect the lives of thousands for years to come.
