Summary

On October 12, the Sorte mountain, located in the state of Yaracuy, Venezuela, becomes a stage of spiritual transformation where devotees become conductors of ethereal energies. During the candela dance ceremony, participants, after years of preparation, pay homage to the goddess María Lionza, establishing a profound link between the earthly world and the supernatural through music and fire. This ritual not only symbolizes the resistance and commitment of the mediums, but also evidences their connection with ancestral indigenous spirits. The mountain stands as a sacred space, where faith manifests itself in a vital experience that reaffirms the Venezuelan cultural heritage, turning the ceremony into a vibrant tribute to the ancestors and the integrity of the human being in the face of the divine.
