Water for human consumption in the province of Espinar "according to a study carried out by DIRESA Cusco through the Canas, Canchis and Espinar Health Services Network between 2016 - 2018 at the Drinking Water Treatment Plant for Virgin human consumption Chapi of the Yauri district of Espinar province, determined that the presence of toxic metals such as aluminum, arsenic, iron and manganese was found that exceed the parameters allowed in the water currently consumed by Espinar. Pollution caused by the Swiss mining company Glencore in the Tintaya-Antapaccay mining complex and the lack of prior consultation due to the expansion of the mining complex. In 2012 there were protests in that same place against the Swiss mining company Xtrata for the same reason, as a result of the protests in 2012, 3 villagers were killed and 15 were injured, also 30 police officers were injured. It's been 7 years and the situation is worse. Glencore is not responsible for anything regarding pollution, claiming that it is a highly mineralized mountain area.
