Playing House
It wasn't until somewhere just before puberty, that the realisation of what playing houses actually meant dawned on me. All of a sudden this game was far more serious which for me felt sordid, scary and yet also incredibly intriguing and being a girl, romantic/hopeful. It's not something that I have thought about, but finding this old "shed" which had a single piece of graffiti drawing on the walls resulted in these feelings flooding back. I know that the outcome for every child is different, but this "rite of passage" if you will, is no different for children today than it was all those years ago when I was going through it.
