The killing of George Floyd on May 25th, 2020 re-energized a movement. That movement is a new civil rights movement demanding changes to a country grounded in systemic racism. The new rallying cries of the people in the movement have been echoing in the streets of New York City since the week Mr. Floyd was killed. There are daily rallies and marches to call forth for major cultural, policing, and political change throughout America. The steadfast devotion of organizers and participants to change "the system" and all structures supporting it is unyielding. This historic movement, and the stories continue. My perspective is but one of the many stories being told about the Black Lives Matter movement in New York City.
