Wisconsin State Capitol Rotunda
Madison, WI
11/10/2024
It’s been just five days since over half the country voted to elect Donald J. Trump to a second term as the 47th president of the United States of AmeriKKKa, putting abortion rights at an even greater risk than ever before.
Here in Madison, the Wisconsin Supreme Court will begin to hear arguments on November 11th as to whether the 1849 abortion ban is legitimate in 2024.
In response to this, a small but very vocal group of citizens gathered Sunday afternoon in the rotunda of the Wisconsin State Capital for an ‘Emergency Action’ to speak out against the 1849 abortion ban, Trump, the American Reich, and the proposed blueprint for the country, Project 2025.
Additionally, at the rally, people spoke out about their fears and concerns for the safety of those needing healthcare involving abortion while also calling for unity and coalition building between groups left of center. One goal of a strong coalition will be to build the foundation for a strong, politically viable third party rooted in the working class that would chip away and eventually tear down the capitalist foundation of the current two-party system.
The rally ended with a post-demonstration assembly for those who wanted to debrief and share ideas for strategy moving forward:
- Building mutual aid networks
- Democratic organization/coalition building
- Mass assemblies — making collective decisions to create believers
- Peer education
- Organizing interlocking collectives — despite differences, the right sees us all as the shared enemy
- Target resources to help community members
- Housing insecurity and food insecurity
- Who needs a job?
- Medical care/abortion care/gender-affirming care
- Self-defense resources
- Planning a ‘Peoples March’ on January 18, 2025
