May 2012, Zainab gave birth to her first child, a baby boy. Shortly after giving birth, Zainab haemorrhaged. With the advice of a Doctor, she agreed to take Tranexamic Acid which helped stop the bleeding. Zainab is convinced that the drug saved her life.
Although Tranexamic Acid has been proven to help stop women from bleeding after giving birth thereby reducing the risk of dying during childbirth, it is still not available in all medical facilities in Nigeria. Read more here.
