After almost 4 months of conflict, the disruption between Russia and Ukraine has caused international sanctions imposed by the United States, United Kingdom, the European Union, Canada, Japan, Australia and other countries on Russia, this has affected different sectors of the world economy. and paralyzed international chains of various products.

For Ecuador, it has had undetermined results and will influence the economy this year. Exports and imports have slowed down, mainly those related to the Eurasian market. In 2021, this market represented 6.6% (USD 1,190 million) of Ecuador's total non-oil exports. Only in the case of Russia, exports to that country totaled USD 1,000 million, being the third destination country for non-oil exports last year.

At the product level, exports to Russia were concentrated in bananas (70%); shrimp (14%); and flowers (10%). Therefore, these sectors would be the most affected by the escalation of the international conflict. The banana and flower sectors have calculated losses of USD 85 million so far this year. Likewise, the shrimp industry has shown losses of USD 10 million, due to the closure of ports and limitations in its supply chain.
