Up to one hundred thousand people joined a demonstration against Israel's bombing campaign in the Gaza strip following an escalation of hostilities after an aggressive repression of worshipers during Ramadan in the Al-Aqsa mosque, and continuing campaign of eviction of Palestinians from East Jerusalem, which many see as ethnic cleansing. The protest outside Israeli Embassy also marked 73 years since the mass exodus of Palestinians from their lands and properties as a consequence of post WW2 decision to create the state of Israel as a project to re-settle Jewish population after the horrors of Holocaust in Europe. Palestinians call this period, when between 400 and 600 Palestinian villages were destroyed, 700 thousand people were forced to flee and Palestinian history was erased a Nakba (disaster). The protest was charged but peaceful until the very end when police attempted to disperse the remaining pockets of protesters outside the Embassy. Fights broke out and police have later issued a statement that nine officers were injured and 13 people arrested.
