About 2000 strong crowd, mostly women and girls, gathered in front of New Scotland Yard, London, on Sunday 14/03/2021, to show anger at the way police reacted to Saturday's peaceful vigil in memory of Sarah Everald who was, according to prosecution, abducted and murdered by a police officer Wayne Couzens, now in custody awaiting trial. Police initially approved the Saturday's vigil but later banned it and organizers had to officially cancel the event. Despite that hundreds of women including the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton came to Clapham Common and other places to lay flowers and mourn. Later in the evening police decided to disperse the vigil using power which triggered mass chaos with some records of snatching and arresting women on the ground going viral causing wide outrage. Sunday's protest, in response to Saturday's aggressive handling of the vigil by MET police, was not only focusing on the safety of women in the UK in general but also on the upcoming debate on a new law that is aiming to give police more sweeping powers to control and disperse protests.
