Summary
Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead), one of Mexico’s most important and vibrant holidays, which celebrates Mexican heritage and culture, as well as Hispanic Heritage Month. Dr. Irma Bohórquez-Geisler has served as the Founder and Executive Artistic and Program Director of the New York City Day of the Dead Festival in Staten Island, New York, since 1992. The exhibition features photographs of ofrendas (altars) created during the festival and in the homes of Mexican families in Staten Island. Also includes images of pan de muerto (bread for the dead) being prepared at home and in local bakeries.
