Several thousand Christians and opponents of abortions marched through London on Saturday in the traditional annual March for Life to rally at Parliament Square where they were met by a few hundred strong counter protest under the banner of March for Choice attended by women of all ages. Whilst one side argues that abortion is a murder from the moment of conception and women have no right to terminate pregnancies, the other camp rejects that a Church or a state should take away they right of choice of what to do with their body. Particularly difficult is the topic of children conceived in rape or incest or those where mother's life is at risk from pregnancy. The protest draw strong emotions on both sides and police officers and stewards had to stand a line between the two. Even so some individuals from the March for Life had to be pushed back after aggressive shouting at the pro-choice women. Exchanges of opinion were frequent. Where pro-choice camp chanted "my body, my choice" a group of young men from pro-life rally was heard replying "church will be victorious" etc. Particularly loud reaction of the pro-choice camp came when a speaker for the March for Life hailed the recent decision of the US Supreme Court to scrap Roe v Wade and called to spread the American rejection of abortions to the rest of the world.
