Photographer and filmmaker Irma Bohórquez‐Geisler has been awarded the 2025 DCA Art Fund Grant for her film “Simple Moments of an Emerging Presence: The Mexican Community in New York City.”
Released in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the film combines black-and-white and colour photographs from Bohórquez-Geisler’s ongoing series, highlights from her acclaimed 2024 solo exhibition, and vibrant scenes from the New York City Day of the Dead Festival on Staten Island, which she founded and directed for twenty-seven years.
