Alors le sport devient une échappatoire, un moment où le mouvement des corps vient contrebalancer l'inertie de la vie. Lors des moments de pause, les discussions s'enchaînent et plusieurs des jeunes présents considèrent qu' "il n'y a ici pas d'avenir pour eux". Une affirmation qu'ils tiennent de leurs parents et qui leur fait espérer un avenir ailleurs. Soit à travers le sport soit à travers la mer.
Puis aussi rapidement qu'elles ont démarré, les conversations s'arrêtent et les corps se remettent en mouvement. Une danse qui ne s'arrêtera que lorsque la pénombre aura remplacé la lumière.
ENGLISH- I have always been amazed by the enthusiasm of Senegalese youth for sports. Every evening, around 5 p.m., as the sun begins its slow descent and the temperature cools, dozens gather on the beaches of the Corniche. In Senegal, youth (those under 35) make up 76% of the general population, and 29% are unemployed—a situation that has not improved despite the change in government and the many promises made last April. For many, sports become an escape—a moment where the movement of their bodies counterbalances the stagnation of life. During breaks, conversations flow freely, and many of the young people present share the sentiment that "there is no future for them here." A belief they inherit from their parents, which fuels their hope for a better life elsewhere—whether through sports or across the sea. Then, as abruptly as they began, the conversations stop, and the bodies resume their motion. A dance that will only cease when darkness finally replaces the light.
